MVME335 is a standard single-height 6U VMEbus slave communication expansion module developed by Motorola, specially designed to expand multi-channel serial and parallel interfaces for MVME series VME single board computers. It cannot operate independently and must be mounted on the same VME chassis and controlled by a master SBC via VME backplane bus. This board carries four fully independent serial transceivers supporting RS-232C, EIA-422 and EIA-485 multi-mode switching, each channel equipped with independent hardware FIFO receive/transmit buffers to reduce host CPU interrupt frequency and improve continuous data transmission stability. A dedicated Centronics parallel port is reserved for local printer debugging, log output and peripheral auxiliary communication. All serial signal circuits integrate ±15kV contact ESD and 2kV surge suppression protection, with isolation resistors on each signal line to restrain industrial ground loop interference. The board adopts A16 short address space and D16 16-bit data width VME bus protocol, supporting maskable per-channel interrupt signals, and can be cascaded with multiple MVME335 boards in one VME rack to expand dozens of serial communication links.
